The name that is displayed on Tinder is not your correct first name? Don’t worry, you can change your name on your Tinder profile as we will show you in this tutorial.
We will not only show you how to edit your name in your Tinder account but will also help you with editing other profile information if you don’t know where you can change them.
How to change your name on Tinder?
You have different options to change your name based on how you created your account. You can check this by logging out of Tinder and try to login back again. If you can login with your Facebook account, you most likely signed up with your Facebook account.
Change your age on Tinder when you created your account with Facebook
If you signed up for Tinder with Facebook and your first name is not displayed in the right way or then it is because your first name is also not correct in Facebook. So if you want to get this corrected you have to do this in Facebook, as Tinder pulls the name data directly from Facebook.
Here is how you can change your name on Facebook:
- Open up your Facebook account
- Click on the down-pointing arrow in the top-right of the page
- Click settings
- Scroll to General settings where you can find your name
- Make the desired change
- Click “Review changes”
- Enter your password and click “Save changes”.
If everything went smoothly when you restart your Tinder app, your new name should display correctly. Congrats, you have changed your name in your Tinder account.
Another option if you don’t want to or can’t change your name in your Facebook account is to make a second Facebook account that you would only use for Tinder and set up with a name you would want to have on Tinder. In this case you also have to make a new Tinder account.
Change your age on Tinder when you created your account with a phone number
If you created your Tinder profile without Facebook, with only a phone number, this means that you had to add your name when you signed up and you most likely made a typo when adding your name.
Unlike in the previous method, you can’t correct this name in your Facebook account, your only option is to delete your current Tinder account. We have a full article explaining how you can delete your account and other things related to deleting your Tinder account.
Bear in mind that this will delete all your current matches, the conversations you had with your matches and all your previous right and left swipes. You also should know that if you start up a new account right after you deleted one (also called Tinder reset), you can be penalized with a shadowban by Tinder.
